Cuddles and Kittens

Posted: November 21, 2014 by Jeff Guenther

Lack of actual, physical, human contact got you down? For Portland, the answer seems to be a resounding “YES!”

In just its first week of operations, Cuddle Up to Me, Portland’s very first professional cuddling shop, was flooded with interested potential clients, receiving as many as 10,000 emails according to KPTV. For the low price of $60, you, too can experience an hour of platonic touching at Cuddle Up to Me’s East Burnside location.

Snuggin’ on strangers not your thing? How about kittens? Scientifically proven to have noteworthy benefits (like lowering stress and lessening anxiety) interacting with a friendly pet can be soul soothing. And so: Cat Therapy.

You may have heard about the cat café trend, long popular in Asia and slowly catching on around the world. North America’s first cat café opened its doors earlier this year (in Oakland, CA). But don’t worry Portlanders! In 2015 all our prayers will be answered when Purringtons Cat Lounge opens on NE MLK. And if you fall in love with one of the resident kitties: Good News! They are all available for adoption.

Or you could, you know, see an actual mental health professional, who can help you with issues ranging from loneliness to stress management. Totally your call though. If you need us, we'll be at Purringtons......
