My Approach to Helping

My approach is mindfulness-based, trauma-informed and derives from the perspective that the body, mind and spirit are deeply interconnected. I believe that we all have the innate capacity to experience vitality, joy and wholeness. My work involves guiding individuals to tap into this potential, and fully realize their own inner-strength, truth, beauty and wisdom. I place an importance on therapist-client collaboration, and I provide a safe, inclusive and non-judgmental space. I am LGBTQ affirming. My demeanor is both gentle and compassionate, as well as direct and honest. I utilize positive psychology, psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral therapies as well as somatic mind-body modalities that promote self-awareness, healing, integration and self-compassion.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I hold a Master of Arts in Art Therapy/Counseling from Marylhurst University as well as a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Post-Baccalaureate in Women’s Studies from Portland State University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I have specialized training and experience in working with issues pertaining to intimate partner violence, spirituality, addiction, mood disorders, anxiety, attachment and trauma recovery. And, I take part in ongoing post masters education around evidenced-based therapeutic practices, mindfulness, somatic mind/body modalities. I am also a professional member of the American Counseling Association and EMDR International Association.
