My therapeutic approach has a dual focus. Trained as a couples and family therapist, I help clients understand how their unique history influences their current health and happiness. When you grasp how family /relational dynamics and past trauma affect how you cope with life and its stressors, you can easily identify strategies and patterns of behavior that no longer serve you. AND I am an experiential therapist because the felt experience of something new and different is what sustains lasting change. I utilize attachment theory, mindfulness, and somatic interventions to excavate buried parts of the self and access core emotions. This process is creative and takes many forms. The desired result however is always the same: a new and powerful emotional tool box that allows you more flexibility and resilience when responding to life’s challenges.

I hold a Master’s degree in Marital, Couples, and Family Therapy from Portland State University. My post graduate training is primarily focused on Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and the relational practices of Terry Real and Esther Perel. I am passionate about this work and feel deeply honored by every story I hear and every change I witness. I tend to work well with people who like honest, unbiased feedback and who consider themselves out of the box thinkers- artists, educators, LGBTQ, people in recovery from religious trauma, entrepreneurs, and small biz owners. Fit is everything in counseling. I invite you to visit me for a free initial consult to feel out if I am the right counselor for you.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Couples Counseling External link

Your relationship is as unique as you are and if it is suffering, every aspect of your life is likely being affected. Trained as a marriage and family therapist, my specialty is couples counseling and helping people change negative patterns into opportunities for connection. I combine EFT and Terry Real's Relational Life Therapy for a style that is direct, compassionate, and effective.

  • Experiential External link

I believe insights need to be directly experienced for them to create meaningful change. People come to me because they feel stuck or overwhelmed by negative emotions or relational conflict. I serve as a guide and help clients explore and experience new ways of relating with themselves and their loved ones. This in turn creates new pathways for self awareness and personal growth.

  • Existential External link

Existentialism is a philosophy that claims the most important aspects of our lives are personal responsibility and meaning. When translated into a therapeutic approach, existentialism is a powerful vehicle for accessing your inner wisdom and purpose. I utilize existentialism to help clients connect with their immediate experiences and explore their untapped potential.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Relationship / Marriage Issues External link

Intimacy and commitment are going through tremendous changes in our modern world. Our evolving roles and expectations are transforming how we understand partnership. Trained as a marriage & family therapist, I specialize in couples counseling for today’s complex relationships. I combine EFT and experiential methods to help couples explore vulnerable issues, communicate in new ways, and reconnect.

  • Codependency External link

Many of us were set up for codependency by our childhood dynamics and past trauma. We rely on others for a sense of worth and self approval. I am a relational therapist who specializes in helping track and change unhealthy, toxic, and limiting beliefs and patterns. I understand how trauma can affect intimacy and trust. I help people transform their relationship with self and others.

  • Anxiety External link

Anxiety is physically and emotionally debilitating and can leave you feeling like your well-being is at the mercy of chance. I treat individuals struggling with all types of anxiety issues. Using a blend of mindfulness and interpersonal neurobiology, I help clients identify triggers, find relief, and develop a stronger sense of inner strength and awareness.

  • Depression External link

I work with clients to create multifaceted solutions in the face of depression. It's important to utilize both behavioral solutions and deeply supported explorations of emotional pain to create change and find relief.
