My Approach

As a therapist I envision my role as a fellow traveler in your individual path to create and sustain a life full of passion, hope, and meaning. I offer a variety of empirically supported approaches to therapy including CBT, DBT, MBCT, ACT, gestalt, and art therapy. I also draw from experiential mindfulness-based approaches such as Hakomi. I come to the therapy process with an attachment theory lens. By using attachment theory in counseling we can begin to heal past attachment wounding through your current relationships. In offering counseling to individuals, my help is best received through forming a safe therapeutic relationship with you. A therapeutic relationship is one where you feel honored and supported for who you are and where you are in life. It is a relationship that offers you the space to express your genuine emotions and thoughts without judgment. This kind of relationship provides the foundation for deeper transformational work.

My Background

I hold a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Pacific University. Major coursework included diagnosis, assessment, research methods, treatment planning, ethics, human growth and development, family systems, counseling techniques, group therapy, eating disorders, trauma treatment, ethnic diversity and career counseling. My training includes clinical treatment in a community mental health center. I have also received training in Hakomi from the M.E.T.A. training center.
