My Ideal Client

Are you an adult or adolescent feeling like life if really hard right now? Are you going through a big change? or feeling anxious, stressed, or depressed? I frequently work with people who struggle with anxiety, depression or are coping with grief and loss. Life can be really hard, but you don't have to get through it alone. Therapy can be helpful when we want to move through challenges, to find more peace, joy or balance.

My Approach to Helping

Therapy looks different for everyone. Everyone learns and grows in their own unique ways. My approach with each person takes into account what works best for them. What you can count on is that I’ll take a holistic approach to healing and emotional growth through body-centered modalities, trauma-informed practices, and culturally sensitive interventions that help empower you to set your own goals and work towards the life you want to live. I'll help you identify and explore your own positive beliefs and values that support you in finding more joy and meaning in your daily life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My pronouns are she/her. I live with my family in the Pacific Northwest, just outside of Portland, Oregon where I love getting outside as much as possible. Science, nature, and art have always been my favorite subjects and I’m always ready to dive in and explore life’s mysteries with curiosity. I can be serious but I can also be silly. I can be scientific but I can also be woo-woo. At the end of the day, I find it important to show up as my authentic self with my clients, and find the humor together where we can.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Mindfulness-based External link

Sometimes talk thearpy is not enough. Sometimes a body-centered or mindfulness-based approach is necessary to facilitate deeper healing. If clients are interested in an opportunity for deeper healing, I offer various interventions including; meditation, visualization, creative expressions, and somatic-based strategies.

  • Family Therapy External link

I hold a MS in Marital, Couple and Family therapy from Portland State University and have training and experience working with highly conflictual families. Family therapy can help systems increase healthy functioning and shift patterns that have been in place for years and sometimes generations. I utilize various family therapy approaches to help family meet the goals they set.

  • EMDR External link

I am trained in Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, which is a wonderfully powerful (and simple) tool for working through traumatic memories or difficult experiences.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Personal Growth External link

Working towards personal growth and wellness is an excellent reason to enter into therapy. Often times we get so busy in our daily lives, that we forget to put aside time to explore these important themes. I support people in identifying and exploring their own strengths, values and spiritual beliefs in order to live full and healthy lives. This process can begin at any time and at any age.

  • PTSD External link

Many people attend therapy due to unresolved hurts and wounds from traumatic events in their lives. I support people in healing past hurts through a variety of talk therapies, and also body-centric modalities to deeply effect change and help people move on to find joy and balance in their lives.

  • Anxiety External link

Anxiety can arrise in people's lives for various reasons; difficulty coping with life changes, relationship conflict, unresolved trauma, biological predisposition or living a lifestyle that is incompatible with your core beliefs or values. I treat Anxiety through a combination of finding ways to cope and reduce anxiety in the moment, and inviting clients to explore options for deeper healing.
