My Approach

I specialize in helping individuals and groups learn tools for being human. This includes dealing with difficult emotions, cultivating positive emotions, assessing risk/cost, engaging in valued actions, designing a healthy lifestyle, coping with transitions and improving communication. My approach is eclectic and I draw from the CBT, ACT, Mindful practices, motivational interviewing, non-violent communication, neuroscience and resiliency research. We'll review how you are doing at home, school, work and in relationships. We'll explore your values, goals to help you get back on course. I strive to be kind, compassionate and accepting. I offer short term and intermittent sessions. Counseling should be accessible and tailored to what best suits your needs. Growth takes time, I can help.

My Background

I am licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in Washington and Oregon. I appreciate the interconnection of neuroscience, emotional, physical and spiritual health. I love the idea that we can change the structure of our brain for improved health and wellness. I am guided by the teachings of Rick Hanson, Brene Brown, Dan Siegel, Tara Brach, Marshall B. Rosenberg and many others. Experience: resiliency skills, depression, anxiety, insomnia, persistent pain, stress management, life transitions, and caregiver fatigue. I've worked in hospitals, clinics, home health, and inpatient mental health. Cultural Background: I am a third generation Filipino American who grew up in Hawaii.
