My Ideal Client

I specialize in support for individuals coping with: grief and loss, anxiety, depression, chronic illness and stress, relationship challenges, fractured self esteem, and life transitions. Be heard: therapy is a confidential environment in which you can share your story, the areas of your life where you might be struggling as well as what hopes you have for change. I take a non-judgmental approach to the therapeutic relationship, offering a collaborative approach towards coping and growth.

My Approach to Helping

Therapy is a process for building awareness towards the mind and body - notice the underutilized strengths, notice the pitfalls. Develop tools to be grounded in the present. Recognizing patterns of thought and behavior can offer the gift of better understanding ourselves and our way of being in the world. Therapy is not only about harnessing the inner resources at your disposal to cope with suffering, but also an exploration of how your personal values might contribute to your sense of meaning and direction. Some challenges dissipate, others stay with us - regardless, there is choice in how we respond.

My Values as a Therapist

Calliope Counseling is committed to creating a safe environment and person-centered support to individuals of all races, ages, gender and sexual identities.

Issues I Treat

  • Loss or Grief External link

Prior to Calliope Counseling, I worked as a hospice social worker, serving patients and families facing life threatening illness. Beyond the impact of death to both individual and family (biological or chosen), grief permeates all manner of life experiences in the loss of normal, loss of security.
