My Approach to Helping

My philosophy of therapy is based on empirical science (statistically measured studies). I use evidence-based approaches proving study after study what helps relationships thrive. Specifically, I use the foremost Gottman Method relationship therapy that is based on over 30 years of research. I also incorporate mindful awareness interventions based on neuroscientific data . I approach therapy with warmth and acceptance. My mode of treatment is designed to get you back to living the life you want. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process where I help my clients feel safe, understood and empowered to explore new ways of being in the world. I will work with you to create positive changes in your life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My specific areas of clinical focus include: couples therapy, trauma, children's issues, behavioral and emotional concerns, and conflict resolution and parent-child relationship enhancement. I am trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 1 & 2) and Tier 1 training in Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS). I have a comfort practicing under a variety of theories and techniques. I help couples improve communication, rekindle intimacy and improve awareness of patterns which may result in defensiveness, or feeling "not heard" by your partner. I also am skilled in treating depression, anxiety and stress. I am also proudly serve as a provider for The Returning Veterans Project. I also love working with multicultural couples. With my personal experience as a partner in a multicultural relationship and a mother of two daughters, I am sensitive to the challenges of this population. I can help with the pitfalls of having conflicting values, beliefs, traditions,and rituals.
