My Approach

My style of therapy is to integrate concepts from trauma-focused CBT, DBT, and interpersonal neurobiology. These concepts are well-researched, focus on behavior and thought patterns, building awareness and mindfulness, and on utilizing the resources a client already has within their grasp. While these theories and concepts inform my work with clients, I recognize that each client will have unique needs that cannot be tailored simply according to theoretical frameworks. My approach is to collaborate with clients in the therapeutic process, recognize each client as an expert on themselves, and then integrate concepts and tools that best fit each individual’s needs.

My Background

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California Baptist University in 2013 and my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from George Fox University in 2018. I am a registered LPC intern with the state of Oregon and I am currently under the supervision of Julia Berreth, LMFT, while I work toward obtaining my license. I have received additional training in suicide prevention and have attended special training at the “Counseling Sex Trafficking Survivors: Understanding and Treating Complex Trauma Conference." My personal experience as a family member of a survivor of sex trafficking has inspired my passion for working with survivors of sexual trauma; and has contributed to my knowledge of how we as therapists can do better supporting and collaborating with clients who have experienced sexual trauma.
