My Approach

My approach to therapy is to provide a warm, safe, and accepting environment where you can explore your challenges, thoughts, and feelings. I am also interactive, providing support and practical feedback that can help you move forward and effectively address your personal challenges. I make use of a number of therapy methodologies to guide my work, including positive strength-based psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy, supportive expressive therapy, and mindfulness training to increase personal awareness and enhance cogntive, behavioral, and interpersonal coping.

My Background

I have over 14 years of counseling experience working in both private and public settings. I received my PhD in Clinical Psychology from Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara, California. I completed my doctoral internship at Pacific Rehabilitation Center, a multidisciplinary pain clinic and had an opportunity to complete a oncology rotation at FHS CHI Franciscan Hospital in Tacoma, Washington. In addition to counseling, I enjoy presenting at local conferences and general audiences. My research focus is on identity development - I am particularly interested in the question of "who and I?" during times of change. I am also an active member of the Oregon Counseling Association where I had the honor to serve a presidential term from 2013-2016.
