My Ideal Client

Parenting at all stages of life can bring up our most vulnerable selves, cause us to lash out, or make us anxious. You may meet a side of yourself that scares you now that you are a parent. You might also struggle with anxiety, depression, anger or understanding your child's needs and behaviors. We will work together to understand the needs underneath the behaviors and help you and your child restore joy and calm.

My Approach to Helping

I integrate developmental neuroscience, play therapy and family systems work with evidence-based approaches like CBT, child-centered play therapy and narrative and expressive arts. With me, you'll receive quality, comprehensive assessment and care from a nurturing, brain-based perspective!

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I received my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology: Marriage and Family Therapy from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2013. Before that, I earned a B.A. in English, with an emphasis on Creative Writing. I still write, and my first love is fictional short stories! My love for the complexity of stories is what lead me to a profession where I get to engage with human stories of resilience, struggle, love and creativity every day! I am trained in Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and in DIR/Floortime therapy, a holistic, interdisciplinary approach to working with children, especially those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other sensory processing differences. The work that I do with individuals, families, and parent-child relationships is influenced by interpersonal neurobiology and current research on attachment theory and mind-body integration.

Issues I Treat

  • Parenting External link

We all wish our children came with a guidebook, but it's possible to find a guide to help you through tough parenting challenges. I provide compassion, integrative assessment, and concrete tools for parents. As a parent myself, I'll integrate first-hand experience with my expertise in infant and child development, neuroscience, play therapy, and relationship-based treatment.

  • Child or Adolescent Issues External link

From anger, defiance, aggression and mood changes to differences in development or difficulty communicating, I use a comprehensive assessment to take a look at the whole child in the context of family, peer relationships, academics, and physical and emotional strengths and challenges. Together we will find the best treatment plan for you and your child, to find lasting change together.
