My Ideal Client

If you are looking to improve your mood, friendships and relationships, ease tensions in work and family life, and resolve long-running issues that may be holding you back, I would look forward to working with you. This work uses attachment, co-regulation and social neurobiology of emotions as foundations of mental health. With the help of other trauma-specific techniques, we can also work towards peace and fulfillment in the aftermath of trauma, whether single-incident or chronic and complex.

How I Can Help You

My work uses the latest evidence on how to tailor the therapeutic process to your needs and preferences so that you will be in the best possible situation to flourish, make progress on your therapeutic goals and weather the pain of addressing difficult situations in your life. In the first session, you and I will co-create a process tailored to you. This can be open ended or can focus on concrete skills like goal-setting, boundary-setting, emotion naming and regulation, mindfulness, and compassion towards others and towards yourself.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Before studying to become a counselor, I answered crisis calls at Lines For Life, the local affiliate of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

While low mood can be a persistent and difficult problem, many people experience rapid improvement when talking to someone who takes time to understand their issues in depth and reflect chronic difficulties back. This process can be relatively goal-directed or open-ended, depending on your preference and an ongoing process of feedback as we explore which areas are the most stuck or difficult and which seem to be ready for a change.

  • Anxiety External link

You're not alone in struggling with worries and ruminations about the future, about painful situations or about others' expectations. We can work on processing situations that lead to worry, somatic and embodied strategies to regulate physiological experiences of tension and stress, and processing of deeper emotions and memories that might circle around the types of situations that you find the most difficult. Peace is around the corner.

  • PTSD External link

Trauma can be extremely difficult to live with, but also very treatable. If your symptoms look anything like being overtaken by memories of painful experiences, trouble sleeping, being easily startled, or chronically feeling stuck with negative emotions like anger or shame, we can work on that. I will take my time to understand both what's kept you going and what's hard, and how to have that conversation in a way that keeps you feeling like you're in the driver's seat but with expert help.
