My Approach

I primarily use Sensorimotor therapy, a mindfulness-based approach to addressing trauma and attachment issues. Since trauma profoundly affects and is often held in the body, I believe that including one's physical experience along with the emotional, spiritual, cognitive and cultural dimensions are important to truly address the whole person. My approach is gentle and recognizes the skills you may have used (or are still using) to survive painful circumstances. Developing and building on your strengths, we'll work together to learn what your body and mind need to set better boundaries, change relational patterns and enhance connection, and integrate trauma-related feelings and memories. If you like, I also offer education about the effects of trauma, tailored to fit your unique experience. My approach is founded on principles of anti-oppression, as I recognize that dynamics of power and privilege affect all aspects of health, including the counseling relationship.

My Background

I have several years' experience as an individual, residential and crisis counselor and caregiver. I graduated with an MA in counseling from Lewis and Clark College in June of 2019, and I am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). I've completed Level I training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and I'm also trained in Emotion-Focused Therapy for individuals (EFT), Process Work, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and several other counseling modalities. I specialize in working with adult survivors of trauma, people with dissociative experiences, genderqueer and gender non-conforming individuals.
