My Ideal Client

I am here to help! With years of experience working with people just like you, I can help you start to put the pieces back together. Using a collaborative approach, I have been able to help clients with ADHD, Anxiety, and Depression develop a plan to guide the process. Additionally, I have education and lived experience helping those in the LGBTQ+ community.

My Approach to Helping

As a social worker, I believe that therapy should be a collaborative journey, between the client, the therapist, and sometimes between outside systems (school, family, public assistance, etc). From a theory-based standpoint, I use concepts from several different theories, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), as well as Internal Family Systems (IFS). I am especially interested in IFS, which in a nutshell, is the idea that inside our psyche we have several "parts" and the way these parts interact affects the way that we think, feel, and act in the world.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My name is Alex Bardole and I am licensed as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the state of Washington (License # 61157561). I started my journey as a mental health provider in college, helping adults with depression, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder as well as other mental health disorders live independently in the community. For my undergraduate, I graduated from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa in 2008, with a Bachelors in Spanish and minors in both Political Science and Social Work. After moving outside of Atlanta, Georgia, I worked at an inpatient mental health hospital. I graduated from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia in 2017, with a Masters of Social Work. Since graduation, I have been in community mental health, working with a diverse population of clients, including children, teens, adults, the refugee community, LGBTQ+ persons, and Spanish-speaking clients.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) External link

I often use a therapy approach called Internal Family Systems (IFS), which is centered around the idea that we all have different internal parts or aspects of ourselves that interact in ways that can be helpful or harmful. These parts can be like voices within us. For example, some parts might constantly overthink things or criticize us, thinking they're protecting us from possible harm.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • LGBTQ Issues External link

As a self-identified gender-nonconforming pansexual person, I know from personal experience how hard it is to fit in when it feels like others are judging you. Sometimes having someone to talk to is the most helpful thing for you. I have had training on how to work with LGBTQ+ clients, provide gender affirming assessments and letters for medical intervention, and it is my passion to work with people in the Queer community.

  • ADHD External link

As a neurodivergent therapist, I am keenly aware of the challenges of ADHD on attention, getting tasks done, and paying things on time, as well as the shame that comes with these challenges. I utilize CBT, DBT, and IFS to help with these challenges.

  • Anxiety External link

Sometimes it feels like your heart is pounding, thoughts race, and the world is coming to an end even when you are perfectly safe. Anxiety is a specialty of mine and using parts work as well as mindfulness techniques, as well as other methods, Anxiety is a treatable condition.
