My Ideal Client

You are more than a diagnosis - there is a unique set of experiences, values, and circumstances that brought you here. This is what my practice is all about. Many of my patients are unsure if they need medication, have received conflicting mental health diagnoses, or have had negative experiences with psychiatry in the past. If this is you, I can help. I have a small practice that allows me to treat every patient as an individual and form a supportive, real partnership.

My Approach to Helping

In my practice, I offer a humanistic approach that seeks to thoroughly understand each person’s values, strengths, and goals at every stage of treatment. I believe that the most important tool I have is a supportive, collaborative, and trusting doctor-patient relationship. I prioritize psychotherapy and lifestyle intervention, using medications and/or supplements only when they are consistent with the patient’s goals. When medications are considered, I help patients weigh the risks and benefits of all available options, and provide guidance on when and how to taper off.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) External link

Cognitive Behavior Therapy is an approach that connects and individual's thoughts and behavior to their emotional experience. I have been trained in CBT and regularly use cognitive reframing techniques and behavioral changes to help my patients to challenge and change their emotional states.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) External link

Dialectical Behavior Therapy is a treatment modality that helps individuals with strong emotions, chronic suicidal thoughts, and complex trauma practice mindfulness, acceptance, and moving toward a life worth living. I have undergone full-scale DBT training and enjoy working with clients who have been through DBT therapy and are looking to maintain their skills and progress.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Anxiety External link

Many of my patients struggle with anxiety related to professional challenges, past trauma, or relationship dynamics. I work with patients to identify the source of their anxiety and provide evidenced based treatments to help.

  • PTSD External link
  • Alcohol Abuse and Alcohol Dependence External link

I have extensive experience working with individuals in recovery, both in residential substance use treatment, outpatient treatment, and detox. I work with patients to identify a recovery model that works for them and their values.
