My primary therapeutic tools include EMDR, Attachment Theory, Narrative Therapy, and Internal Family Systems-informed psychotherapy. Ultimately, those are just words that support my belief that healing and help happen when there’s a good working relationship between the client and the counselor. I’ve seen it time and time again, so I work hard to build a therapeutic rapport so that you can be seen and heard for who you are. The best feedback I’ve ever been given was when a client told me recently at their closing session, “I’ve never had anybody listen to me the way that you listen to me. You remember things that I’ve said, and I know that you really care.”

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Portland State University School of Social Work. I also have a Bachelors of Social Work (BSW) degree, and a BA in Social Sciences with a minor in Psychology. For the past 3 years I have worked with hundreds of adults with severe and persistent mental illness in both a state hospital setting as well as a busy community mental health clinic in NE Portland, while maintaining a small private practice. Now I’m solely focused on my private practice work.

Techniques I Use

  • EMDR External link

As an approved EMDR therapist I have 40 hours of official training with extensive supervision. I’ve also obtained additional training and consultation in this field.

Issues I Treat

  • Historical Trauma External link

This can also be identified as “complex trauma” which is my primary focus of work and the area where I have the most training in and success with.

  • Abuse External link

Trauma from abuse can be difficult to treat. I have sought out additional training in trauma treatment and trauma studies to help treat the aftermath of abuse.

  • Dissociative Disorder (DD) External link

Often seen when someone has complex trauma, dissociative disorder can be a challenging occurance. I have training in, and experience with, working with this disorder. I work from an internal family systems-informed perspective.

  • PTSD External link

Trauma is my primary focus and I use EMDR and an internal family systems-informed perspective.
