My Approach

Each person comes with their own story and their own world view. I use a variety of approaches to counseling as one method is not a fit all. For trauma work I use Eye Movement Desensitization Response (EMDR). I practice a Psychodynamic and a linking approach for understanding how past triggers can affect current life situations. To help with body regulation I use somatic psychology (mind-body) and mindfulness. In addition I am experienced in expressive arts, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), inner child work, attachment theory, and brain science. I find that by incorporating a holistic wellness approach engaging the mind, body, and inner spirit the therapeutic experience allows for a deeper integration.

My Background

On my path to become a licensed professional counselor (LPC) I worked in mental health agencies where I helped people from a variety of backgrounds and mental health care needs including childhood trauma, anxiety, and depression. I received my MA in psychology from Lewis & Clark. For continuing education I keep current in brain science, attachment theory, and mindfulness. I am also Eye Movement Desensitization Response (EMDR) trained which studies show can help with the symptoms of trauma.
