My Background and Approach

As a therapist, I followed a non-traditional route to this field. I spent two years in the Peace Corps in Panamá , where I worked with youth and young adults with disabilities. Upon returning to the United States, I continued my work with individuals with disabilities in the classroom, vocational rehabilitation and mental health fields. I hold a Master of Rehabilitation Counseling (M.R.C.) from Texas Tech University and a Master of Arts in Special Education (M.A.-SpEd) from New Mexico Highlands University. I am currently a PhD student in a Counselor Education and Supervision program. I hold certificates in Brainspotting (Phase 1), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Animal-Assisted Therapy.
