As a counselor, I consider my role first and foremost to be warm, responsive, and present with you, and whatever it is you might bring with you into our time together. I am social justice oriented and welcome people of all identities and life experiences. I will walk alongside you on your own wonderfully unique journey, always focusing on working together to create the safety and connection that our embodied and relational beings need to thrive. Deepening a felt-sense of safety and security in the counseling relationship can ripple out into your life in beautiful and transformative ways. Sessions are organic and dependent on what is "alive" for you in the here and now of the counseling session. I strive to listen deeply and follow your lead. When appropriate, we will weave in pragmatic tools for your specific needs, offer information intended to empower you and normalize your experience, or guided somatic or mindfulness practices.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon. I completed my BA at Reed College in cultural anthropology, and my MS in clinical mental health counseling at Oregon State University. The foundation of my practice is interpersonal neurobiology, but I work in a holistic and eclectic way depending on your unique needs and preferences. I also have training in many evidence-based modalities including CBT and EMDR, as well as mindfulness and yoga. I have worked in non-profit clinics, domestic violence agencies, residential settings, mobile crisis, and schools.

Techniques I Use

  • Holistic External link

I see people as a whole being- body, mind, spirit, as well as cultural being. My training in yoga and mindfulness offer tools to address your broader self.

  • Relational  External link

The foundation of my professional development and study is focused on the client-therapist relationship as the crucible of change. I take seriously the responsibility to be present and authentic in order to create a space where you can feel safe and seen. I am committed to my own personal growth and development. I have studied Interpersonal Neurobiology with Bonnie Badenoch, PhD, since 2016.

  • Interpersonal External link

Often the focus of therapy is your social roles and relationships. I believe that this is the arena of our life where many of our greatest strengths as well as struggles are born. I have extensively studied and practiced with a focus on trauma, attachment, and relationships.

  • Personal Growth External link

Improving communication, relationships, self-esteem, self-awareness, embodiment, and self-compassion are all facets of personal growth that can ripple out into your life in amazing ways. My counseling style always focuses on deepening your trust in your own core knowing, so that you may develop in the direction of your own authenticity.

  • Spirituality External link

I have experience working with people who have religious or spiritual trauma, as well as people who, despite years of spiritual practice, are not finding the relief they need. I honor all belief systems and can work with you to explore spiritual identity and increase a sense of meaning that is authentic to your unique experience.

  • Anxiety External link

I offer many tools and strategies for multiple types of anxiety. I have training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, as well as mindfulness and yoga methods that have been proven to be extremely effective in managing anxiety.

  • Depression External link

I have training in CBT, and can also incorporate mindfulness to address depression symptoms. I also work to explore the roots and causes of depression to understand your symptoms holistically.
