My Ideal Client

I am trained in multiple approaches and have specialized in childhood development, trauma focused and trauma informed care with all ages. Folks who are open to change and seeing themselves from a different perspective tend to really enjoy working with me. I also aim to practice humility in my work and I find that folks who come into therapy with curiosity are well equipped to succeed in therapy. I welcome all ages and backgrounds. Therapy can be daunting and I am here to support your journey!

My Background and Approach

I have been a therapist for about 20 years and have worked in many different settings. I am originally from Massachusetts and moved to Portland about 12 years ago. I am Guatemalan and white and identify as a mixed Latina. I have been trained psychodynamically and in a variety of therapeutic models through the years. I have been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS), Somatic Experiencing (SEP), Psychodynamic and Whole Brain Child, ARISE intervention model and Motivational Interviewing.

Why I Became a Therapist

I became a therapist from about the time I was 20 years old. I knew from a young age I wanted to work with people. My earlier career focused on young adults and families and I have broadened my scope through the years. I am deeply committed to social justice and anti-racism work. I am trans-friendly and have spent much of the past several years supporting non-binary and trans youth in my practice. I have supported folks through exploring their self-identities and building connections within their communities. I am an ongoing team captain for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, a Red Cross Volunteer, love and support the Oregon Humane Society and regularly take part in charity runs and events when I am able. I have centered my life around giving back and being a solid member of society. I am by no means perfect and have made my fair share of mistakes in life but I am working to be the best version of myself everyday!
