My Ideal Client

I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for individual adults who are struggling with low self-confidence, stress, anxiety, depression and recovering from trauma. I have also found that my style and experience is a good fit for Equestrian athletes who want to work on improving their performance in the saddle. I work to help clients not only address their current symptoms, but also understand where those symptoms are stemming from for enduring, long term change.

My Background and Approach

My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I am collaborative, relational and empathic and all of my work is from a trauma informed care lens. I most frequently use Relational Psychodynamic Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness Based interventions. These types of therapy help me understand my clients life and worldview through stories and their history, and provide them with evidenced based tools to address acute symptoms while we engage in depth work surrounding their relationships, past and present. My communication style is warm, empathic and respectful. I strive to provide a safe and supportive environment for you to explore any aspect of your life. I pride myself on my non-judgmental listening skills and ability to stay fully present with my clients.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that every mental health struggle we navigate as humans is a way that we found to cope with our environment in order to survive. Those coping strategies can then become roadblocks or start to get in the way of the life that we envision for ourself. We can learn new coping skills to replace the ones that did a wonderful job, but now need to retire. A little more about my personal interests and values: I have always enjoyed having animals be a part of my life and I have been an equestrian from a young age. My relationship with horses is what interested me in pursuing a career in psychology. I saw the power my relationships with horses had to help me heal and I was inspired to provide this type of safe space for healing to happen. I provide Psychotherapy with Horses as part of my practice in the Bay Area California, where I live. Some of my values include compassion, humor, growth, and challenging "what we know."
