My Ideal Client

I work with people of all ages but I have specialized training with children and families. I believe that people have all the strength, wisdom and creativity they need for healing, growth and learning and like seeds in fertile soil, it can activate with a nurturing space and proper care.

My Approach to Helping

My strength-based approach is informed by multiple theoretical frameworks, brain-based research, evidence-based therapies, the expressive arts, a spirit of humility and a sense of humor. I will be a patient, collaborative partner on your journey and I look forward to getting to know you!

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Examples of my commitment to social justice: In 2000, I founded an visual arts organization that, for 19 years, provided people with disabilities arts education, vocational training and professional arts mentoring. In 2005, I co-founded an arts driven urban renewal movement that transformed an economically depressed former hat factory district into a economically and culturally empowering arts destination where people of color live and thrive. From 2008-2009, I created a scholarship program for orphan girls with trauma histories. From 2018-2021, I worked in the public school system to further equity-driven initiatives designed to address poverty and racism and to close a racial academic achievement gap. Some personal interests: I love literature, anthropology and the visual arts, which is why I particularly love Expressive Arts Therapies and Sandplay therapy, which has roots in ancient indigenous practice of sand painting from around the world.
