My Approach to Helping
My treatment philosophy draws from object relations, developmental, and systems thinking. I believe life is a developmental process driven by relationships we have with significant others and steered by the dynamics within the various family and societal groups with which we are involved. Change, I believe comes from new perspectives or understandings of these relationships and system dynamics which allow someone to let go of old wounds and negative beliefs that interfere with their growth.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am trained as a therapist and clinical psychologist, and have worked in hospital, residential, community mental health and out patient settings. I have been in private practice since 1995 and also work part time for Portland Public Schools.
My specialties include therapy with latency age children, , adolescents, adults, and families addressing issues of life transitions and trauma recovery. I have experience working with issues of anxiety, PTSD, and dissociation as well as issues of self-concept and life transitions.
