My Ideal Client

I enjoy working with people who are on a purposeful journey, looking a little bit back, gazing a little bit ahead - finding the courage to figure out how to live right now. Having the freedom from judgement can bring vitality and energy into one's life. Your growth is what happens between sessions: You are the driver. Most people I have worked with have a thirst for insight, even if it takes time to find the right words, or the direction, to pursue their goals and desires.

My Approach to Helping

Coleen Moreno has years of 15+ experience helping adults grow into the people they want to be. She would like to offer to walk with you to experience opportunities for greater psychological flexibility and emotional safety. Maybe you are worn thin by old patterns but don’t know how to get to the next good place? Perhaps you have been listening to the voice of an Inner Critic and have judged yourself too harshly, or even unfairly? Coleen appreciates where you are and invites you to explore what you want for yourself right now. Coleen is licensed in Oregon (L5249) and Washington (LW 60681599)

My Values as a Therapist

Counseling can be an act of healing and redefining purpose. Clients notice they have more freedom to unearth questions about themselves and often find a revised sense of meaning. I enjoy the process of watching people find their way to feeling better. Some of the skills I offer in session can help. EMDR and other trauma-informed methods can greatly reduce anxiety symptoms. Looking at the source of a client’s depression and how it has functioned can be freeing. In session, the use of action methods, such as inner dialogue and role reversal, can bring understanding and healing to relationships. Tools such as NVC (Marshall Rosenberg's work) often helps clients communicate with less emotional strain and guilt. Few of us are taught how to understand and manage emotions and unhelpful thoughts. To be able to walk with another and explore how it feels to be living this human life is such a valuable moment and is worth the time and effort.
