My Ideal Client

Is the past interfering with your quality of life and ability to sustain healthy relationships in the present? Do you feel stuck and unsure how to move forward? Have you recently lost someone you love or experienced a major life transition? Do you experience feelings of shame and hopelessness, nightmares, ruminating thoughts or addictive behavior? I provide a safe space to address past and present traumatic experiences and losses.

My Approach to Helping

I am an experienced trauma therapist, trained in multiple trauma modalities, including EMDR and sensorimotor psychotherapy. I understand feelings of safety and trust are prerequisites to trauma work. I will meet you where you're at and get to know you within the context of your life and together we will determine the focus of our work. Healing is possible. Compassion, curiosity and humor are the heart of my practice. In our work together, there will be plenty of laughter, necessary insights and growth as we work towards healthier, more sustainable ways of moving through the world. Please reach out if you have further questions and would like to learn more about what our work together might look like.

Why I Became a Therapist

One of the most meaningful parts of my job is working with survivors of sucide loss. In August of 2020, I unexpectedly lost my husband to suicide and despite being a therapist trained in grief and loss myself, nothing could have prepared me for the complicated and unique nature of this type of grieving. Grieving the loss of a loved one to suicide is nuanced, requiring a different approach than other types of loss. Together we will honor your loved one's memory, find meaning in what's happened, and find ways to integrate the loss. I am an eclectic therapist, meaning I draw on multiple theoretical frameworks in my work with clients, allowing me to tailor therapy in ways that will be the most beneficial for you. I work from a psychodynamic perspective, meaning I believe our past experiences shape our beliefs and expectations about the world around us and how we carry ourselves relationally. My work is informed by depth psychology, CBT, EMDR, and trauma-informed somatic work.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • EMDR External link

I provide EMDR to those wanting to work through developmental trauma, single-incident traumas, phobias and negative core beliefs.

  • Sensorimotor External link

I am in my 3rd year of sensorimotor psychotherapy training. This somatic modality has been one of the most impactful healing modalities in my own life. It's a gentle, body-based way to identify triggers and implicit memory. When we're able to drop the cognitive narratives and use the body as a source of wisdom, radical transformation and growth can occur.
