My Approach to Helping

In my practice, I strive to create a comfortable, positive space where you can become a person who feels strong and proud of who you are. I most often use a solution-focused and client-centered approach. I believe my clients are the experts of their own lives and I am here to provide support, guidance and perspective. My therapeutic process is to help you move through your challenges by using your strengths. To do this, we have to work collaboratively. I enjoy helping people learn new ways to look at themselves and their experiences. I work primarily with teenagers and adults of all ages. Being a teenager is hard, and I respect that young people are unique and complex individuals who deserve compassion and honesty in their process of learning to navigate life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Originally from the Midwest, I moved to Portland in 2007. I have been working with teenagers and adults for 16 years. I started as a mental health counselor at an alternative high school and have been working in private practice for the past 8 years. I have been trained in using Mindfulness, Restorative Justice, Emotional Security, ACT and (just learning) EMDR to assist with processing trauma. I continue to do work to develop my own racial consciousness and my awareness of how racial dynamics and white supremacy affect our lives as individuals and within our communities. I know this is an ongoing experience and the work I do does not end. I am a member of the LGBTQAI+ community and I support people who are on their journey to better understand who they are.
