You know that thing you don't want to do or think about? Avoiding it may work in the short term, but it only makes things worse. ACT helps to remove those barriers, identify the kind of life you want, and person you want to be. I have attended intensive workshops in ACT, but also am drawn to the fact that it does not pathologize people.
I have completed an intensive 50 hour EMDRIA approved basic training in Attachment Focused EMDR with the Personal Transformation Institute. I have also clinical experience practicing EMDR with clients.
The story we tell ourselves impact how we see ourselves, but it is often others who are not supportive that dictate how that story should be. Narrative therapy is about looking at the past through a more compassionate lens or envisioning a future that is worth living for. An example can be as simple as the words 'victim' and 'survivor'. I combine my experience as a clinician with being an author.
