My Ideal Client

I am a relational therapist who specializes in working with individuals with big emotions. Trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), I focus on helping clients build concrete, practical tools to navigate emotional intensity, relationship challenges, and overwhelming life experiences. My approach is structured, compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based techniques that support real change.

My Approach to Helping

Being a relational therapist, I help clients work on their relationship with others, or themselves. I work with people who may feel stuck, reactive, or emotionally dysregulated, and together we develop skills for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and effective communication. This work goes beyond insight! What sets me apart is that I take an active, skills-based approach to therapy. While being heard and validated is essential, I believe real change happens when clients are equipped with practical tools they can use.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that all of us have the power to change, we often just need help to get started. Growing up in the pacific northwest, I am intimately familiar with the culture of the region and how isolating we can feel in the world around us at times. I am hear to offer that support, encouragement and skills that can help you through a stressful time in your life.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Anxiety External link

If your anxiety tends to take over and become the driver of your life, if its limiting you from thriving and you feel like you are just surviving day to day, then we would work well together. We can develop tools to coping, gain insight into what your anxiety and emotions are telling you and lessen the intensity of that anxious feeling.

  • Relationship / Marriage Issues External link

Relationships are defining in many ways for our lives, whether we have challenges, positives or not enough relationships and I help clients explore how relationships impact their thoughts and emotions. By using DBT therapy we can examine how to regulate emotions in the face of challenges in our relationships with others and ourselves

  • Loss or Grief External link

I worked for many years as a bereavement therapist in the community helping others through individual and group therapy to process and incorporate losses of all kinds. I often think of loss as a coin and on the flip side of the same coin is love.

  • Alcohol Abuse and Alcohol Dependence External link

Recovery from a substance, vice or behavior can be a hard and impactful process that is often done best with additional support through therapy. As a licensed substance use counselor in Oregon and Washington I have provided therapy to many throughout the years who are starting or continuing along their own process of recovery.

  • PTSD External link

Trauma and traumatic events impact our everyday being. DBT and individual therapy can reduce the stress of how trauma shows up in your life, how it can make you feel and how it impacts your relationships. I am familiar with how past can impact us on the day to day and we can work together to reduce that feeling.
