My Ideal Client

I specialize in working with adolescents, and adults of all ages who have experienced trauma. I have worked closely with survivors of domestic violence, and working with survivors on parenting after domestic violence, parenting stress, and childhood trauma.

My Approach to Helping

I have a background in trauma therapy, and specialize in adults, adolescents, and children who have experienced trauma. I believe that no trauma is too big or too small to be addressed in therapy. I believe that there is no wrong response to trauma and what has happened to you. My approach is attachment based, somatic, and psychodynamic. I use principles of trauma-focused CBT, somatic therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, and narrative therapy. I believe in the power of movement, art, and nature as all part of the healing journey. I will work with each client to develop your own resources and capacity for healing, and help you find the strength within yourself. For clients who are helped by yoga and meditation, I can provide this in our work together. I approach our work with a calm, open, and grounded approach, where you are in the driver's seat at all times. My work is tailored to you and your needs, and I am here to give you space to tell your story.

Techniques I Use

  • Somatic Therapy (Body Centered) External link

Somatic therapy can be a powerful way to address past and current trauma, as well as anxiety, depression, grief and loss. Trauma and memories are stored in the body, and incorporating somatic techniques into talk therapy can help you make progress in areas where you may have felt "stuck" previously.

  • EMDR External link

EMDR can be a powerful technique to address trauma and difficult experiences.

  • Mindfulness-based External link

I incorporate mindfulness into my work to help address trauma, anxiety, and depression.

Issues I Treat

  • PTSD External link

I have experiencing treating PTSD for adults, teens, and children. I use a somatic and talk approach tailed for each client's needs. I use Trauma-Focused CBT, somatic therapy, EMDR, narrative therapy, and mindfulness.

  • Domestic Abuse External link

I have worked in the domestic violence field in Portland for over ten years, and have experiencing treating adults, teens, children, and groups who have experienced domestic violence and abuse. I have also been trained helping parents address parenting after domestic violence, and healing from domestic violence in their own childhood to learn how it affects their own parenting.

  • Sexual Abuse External link

Using somatic approaches to feel safe within your body, as well as helping you create the narrative of your experience, can be powerful tools for healing sexual abuse. I have experience working with survivors of sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse, and incest. It is never too late to tell your story and begin healing.

  • Anxiety External link

Anxiety can come out from nowhere, or from a specific experience. Using mindfulness, CBT, exposure, and somatic approaches, we can work on finding tools for you to cope, as well as move with ease throughout the world.
