My Ideal Client

I work well with humans who are ready to shift things in themselves, their relationships and their families. I believe that great change is possible through learning to listen to our bodies, to the ways we relate to others and recognizing patterns in our thoughts and behaviors. To be willing to step towards what may be daunting and unknown, yet may be liberating and holding for you is courageous and essential for self-work and growth.

My Approach to Helping

I approach psychological work as a holistic journey to be navigated as a team. Together, you and I will name and feel into what is happening, design the best ways to navigate the territory, and discover the natural buoyancy of your deepest, most clear, calm, knowing and wise, whole Self along the way. I absolutely believe that it is through uncovering who we really, really are, beyond the woundings of ancestry and childhood, and cultivating the audacity to radically accept what we discover, that the expression of our unique aliveness can surface. I am trained to hold this practice through the lens of the soma (body) and mind in an integrated (whole-system) psychotherapeutic practice. I often integrate neuroscience, meditation/centering practices and various psychological practices/theories to find what works best for you.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have a Masters degree in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies. I have worked with adolescents in a residential treatment facility teaching emotional regulation skills through Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I have been trained in the following psychotherapeutic methods:“Re-Creation of the Self” (R-CS), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Attachment Theory, Sensory Experiencing (SE) and Hakomi. My focuses in Psychological practice include: gender creative youth and their families, partnership, family dynamics, developmental, acute, and inter-generational trauma, the neurobiology of trauma and re-integration, post-traumatic stress, allyship with communities who face discrimination and prejudice, adolescence and rights of passage into adulthood, creating sacred personal ritual and yogic practice for emotional intelligence, balance, awareness, wellness and healing.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Personal Growth External link

I have worked with many individuals on ways to nourish their inner development and learn to listen to their callings in life. For this work, I draw from my experiences in the wilderness and with the Animas Valley Institute. I believe that if we learn to hear who we really, really are, that so much in life become clear and simple in this complex web we live in today.

  • Child or Adolescent Issues External link

I enjoy working with children and families to find ways to communicate more clearly, work together to support growth and navigate challenging times. I have spend a significant amount of time with adolescents, both individually and with their families to find pathways towards healthy and sustainable living in the relationships to themselves and the world around them.

  • Gender Identity External link

I work with families and individuals to explore the gender spectrum in support of exploration with who we are as unique human beings and how to navigate systems: society's idea of who we are (binary polarities) and other essential areas. Stepping into who you are and living (safely) from that place, is sometimes a delicate balance - and, in my eyes, essential to being home in ourselves.

  • Relationship / Marriage Issues External link

When our relationships are in a state of chaos it can overturn your entire life. When we can commit to working on ourselves and open to healing the relationship - much can be done to calm the waters and invite safety and connection in again. I work with all kinds of relationships, and strive to help people build strong, resilient, healthy ways of being together.

  • PTSD External link

I specialize in working with the body and mind to heal trauma. Using various tools, we can de-code the nervous system's language so that you can understand better the ways to support your healing. Post-Traumatic Stress is something that can be very daunting, but can definitely transform to allow for resiliency and growth.
