My Approach to Helping

I seek to see clients from a holistic perspective. We are more than the issue we bring into therapy. We have lived experiences, developmental stages, and life choices which have shaped our story this far and they are all important in the therapeutic process. I work from the theoretical approaches of Attachment Theory, Person-Centered Theory, Narrative Therapy, Family System Theory, and Trauma-Informed perspectives. I incorporate mindfulness practices, self-reflection, family history, and storytelling perspectives in my work with clients. It is my goal that you feel open and safe to share in sessions. I offer clinical supervision to social workers seeking licensure.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have worked in many social service environments with youth, children, and families. Previously I have served in a residential treatment home for adjudicated teen girls, in DHS Clackamas County as an intern in the Child Welfare program, as an intern in a family enhancement program providing services in parenting classes and domestic violence classes, summer school teacher at an alternative high school, a tutor in Portland Public Schools, as a case manager for youth in foster care facilitating development of life skills needed for transition, in a foster home with older adults living with disabilities, as a program development staff with homeless and runaway youth, with youth who have been victims of sexual exploitation, and as a school social worker for grades K-12.
