Frances Badalamenti

Professional Counselor

I am a counselor and a creative writer. My practice is geared towards those who are open to working through roadblocks within the practice of creative writing. Through my own work as a writer, I have found that the creative process can be extremely healing and energizing.

My Approach

My work with clients is through the lens of creative writing. This is an alternative to the more traditional therapeutic modalities. I work with writers or those who have the desire to write, those who are ready to work through what gets in their way and who have the desire to be guided in that process. You do not have to identify as a writer. In addition to using narrative as a foundation, I also weave in both meditative and body-centering practices. My belief is that we hold a lot of old traumas in our body and the way to heal is to work with them and through them not around them. Although my education and training is in a very traditional counseling psychology framework, my work with clients has evolved into a more alternative model of care. This work may be suitable for those who have done extensive therapy in the past and feel ready to go a different path or for those who are looking for a non-traditional space to work in.

My Background

I hold a master's degree in counseling psychology from Lewis and Clark College. In addition to my training as a counselor, I am also a published writer with a committed creative writing practice and a longtime yoga and meditation practitioner.
