My Ideal Client

Do you feel stuck? Are you faced with negative, unhelpful internal dialogue that diminishes your self-esteem? The anxiety can stop you in your tracks. I understand how these challenges can leave you feeling out of control. It can be overwhelming. I want to help you break this cycle, to help you grow out of these challenges so you no longer feel stuck. In our work, you will develop the skills to make positive changes. You will strengthen your self-confidence and more effectively manage anxiety.

My Approach to Helping

My style is adaptive and direct. I will join with you in creating a collaborative relationship that is built upon curiosity, kindness, and non-judgment. I will also challenge you along the way. I will provide you direct and honest feedback and ask you questions that encourage you to dig deeper. We will utilize your strengths and interests and attend to your whole experience (mind, body, relationships, and lifestyle). As a yoga teacher and psychotherapist, I integrate yoga science into psychotherapy. We will foster your ability to recognize, understand, experience emotions more healthfully in both mind and body. You will develop mental AND physical strategies that enable you to overcome the challenges you face--leading to you feeling more confident, resilient, and self-compassionate.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Emotional Intelligence is cornerstone to my professional practice and to my personal life. Having attended silent meditation retreats, I have had the opportunity and guidance to foster self-awareness. This journey taught me to recognize how my emotions were affected by past, present, and future lived experiences. I also learned how emotions not only affect my mind but also my body, my relationships, and my lifestyle. For most of my life, I'd been living under the impression emotions only affect the mind and can often be ignored and suppressed. As I fostered a deeper connection with myself, I discovered how my body can hold onto lived experiences, which ultimately impacts how I mentally and physically process emotions. With this insight, I now dedicate myself to guiding others in better recognizing emotions, understanding the sources fueling emotions, labeling emotions with accuracy, expressing emotions healthfully, and in regulating emotions skillfully.

Techniques I Use

  • Emotionally Focused External link

I integrate EFT to help individuals/couples gain insight into what drives styles of responding by focusing on your experience of emotions. By expanding emotional awareness, you may better understand yourself/your partner; you may form deeper and more secure connections in mind, body, relationships, and lifestyle. EFT is effective and is an evidenced-based approach to individual/couples therapy.

  • Somatic Therapy (Body Centered) External link

Somatic Therapy is grounded in the mind-body connection. I integrate Yoga science and evidence-based mindfulness therapy to further support the effectiveness of this approach. As we hold emotions in our mind and body, it is important we recognize, understand, and correctly label our physical and mental experiences so we may foster healthier relationships and live a more fulfilled life.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) External link

I integrate ACT and CBT; your values and strengths are important to our process in helping you identify and pursue your goals more efficiently and effectively. Thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are central as we develop a better understanding of how to navigate your challenges. Research has found each approach to be highly effective in treating a multitude of individual and couple concerns.
