My Ideal Client

I support folx with a lived experience of trauma to move through pain & discomfort, to heal brilliantly & unapologetically & to feel at home in their bodies. I can help you: uncover & remember what is beautiful and whole about yourself; attune & respond to the deep wisdom of your body; compassionately attend to shame & trauma responses; deepen your capacity for presence with experiences that may now feel intolerable; discover what healing looks & feels like in your body/mind/spirit/heart.

My Approach to Helping

My practice is deeply informed by the wisdom of Internal Family Systems which teaches to compassionately understand our thoughts, emotions, behaviors & feelings as a response to systemic wounding & protection rather than the result of pathology. In this way, we work within your inner world by honoring & collaborating with your body’s protective system rather than fighting or overriding it. IFS is a beautifully queer healing lineage that invites the practices of deep witnessing, trust-building, nurturing & self-attunement (the relational practices of safety & love) to help us feel whole & free. I practice IFS-Informed EMDR, a highly effective healing modality that helps us to sustainably metabolize past trauma & grief instead of reliving them. Some people call this evidence based, I call it folk medicine–healing pathways that belong to you, are uncovered within the container of our relationship, that tap into your deep embodied knowingness of how to heal. It is both magic and science.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I identify as a queer fat femme. I have been a student and practitioner of anti-oppressive, justice-centered social work for over 20 years. I believe and practice that all oppression is interconnected, that all life is interdependent, that our liberation is bound up in each others and that Black Lives Matter. I am a lifetime student of how healing happens, dedicated to the lifetime work of collective liberation. I respectfully honor that I am practicing social work on colonized land belonging to Indigenous communities and First Nations peoples. For me, this is most often the land of the Duwamish Tribe. My healing style is somatic and some of my work looks like helping folx to breathe, to listen deeply to their whole selves and to develop more fluency with their hearts and bodies. I believe the best therapy will always invite your fullness into the room and that by working in the body and attuning toward our full selves we step into our healing.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) External link

IFS teaches us to compassionately understand our thoughts, emotions, behaviors and feelings as a response to systemic wounding and protection rather than the result of pathology. In this way, we work within your inner world by honoring and collaborating with your body’s protective system rather than fighting or overriding it. IFS is a beautifully queer healing lineage that invites the practices of deep witnessing, trust-building, nurturing and self-attunement to help us feel whole and free.

  • EMDR External link

EMDR is a highly effective healing modality that helps us to sustainably metabolize past traumas and griefs instead of reliving them. Some people call this evidence based, I call it folk medicine–healing pathways that belong to you, are uncovered within the container of our relationship, that tap into your deep embodied knowingness of how to heal. EMDR works by catalyzing your body’s innate wisdom and deep capacity for healing and transformation. It is both magic and science.

  • Somatic Therapy (Body Centered) External link

Being in our bodies is the work of listening deeply to our whole selves. My healing style is somatic and some of my work with folks looks like helping folks to breathe, to listen deeply to their whole selves and to develop more fluency with their hearts and bodies. I believe the best therapy will always invite your fullness into the room and that by working in the body and attuning toward our full selves we step into our healing.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • PTSD External link

As a trauma-worker and as someone who believes deeply in listening to the body’s inherent wisdom, my healing practice is anchored in mutual consent, safety first and going at the pace of the body. I practice EMDR as one of many pathways towards trauma healing, drawing also from somatic healing modalities, polyvagal theory, interpersonal neurobiology and liberation based healing. I believe that healing happens in relationship, at the pace of the body and orient my work from that place.

  • Gender Identity External link

As a queer fat femme, I anchor a healing space that celebrates the fabulousness and fulness of your gender. I hold a healing space where trans and nonbinary folx can enter into your healing work without having to explain yourself or make yourself smaller. I do also support folx to access medical transition like surgeries with low-barrier, single session gender affirming consults.

  • Cultural and Systemic Oppression External link

I am a liberation-based healer who practices at the intersection of oppression and trauma. I approach my work with the support of my ancestors, my longing (and willingness to work) for a decolonized world, my gift of reaching for that very real possibility of healing and breathing life into it. I have an intractable knowingness that our imagination, creativity and visionary souls guide us toward healing. That our bodies and hearts are strong enough to hold this.

  • Dissociative Disorder (DD) External link

In our work together I can help you: -uncover and remember what is beautiful and whole about yourself -attune and respond to the deep wisdom of your body -make meaning of your (automatic/autonomic) brain and body reactions -respond more flexibly when triggered, activated, flooded, frozen -compassionately attend to shame and trauma responses -deepen your capacity for presence with experiences that may now feel intolerable -discover what healing looks and feels like in your body/mind/spirit/heart
