My Approach to Helping

I believe counseling is a vessel that can lead to healing, deeper connection and more self-awareness. Every client has a story and experience that impacts how they navigate the world. My hope is to support clients as they explore those impacts and move toward liberation. My degree will be in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, which has a focus on disability and vocational rehabilitation. In practice, I use philosophies from Disability Justice to explore how systems affect the individual. In addition, I utilize approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Existential-Humanism to support my work with clients.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am working on my master’s degree at Portland State University under the Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling program. My anticipated graduation date is June 2024. Some notable courses include Medical Aspects of Disability, Psychological Aspects of Disability, Grief and Loss, Multicultural Perspectives in Counseling, and Foundations of Family Counseling. I currently have a BA in psychology from Judson University in Elgin, IL. Professionally, I have worked in various areas of the human service field. My experience has ranged from disability, sexual trauma, and higher education.
