My Approach

I believe that the foundation of good mental health is built with healthy relationships. My approach to therapy centers around the importance of developing a healthy relationship with yourself first and foremost. To do this we will explore the complex narrative of relationships and experiences that have shaped you in to who you are. We will look for signs of stories you may have learned to tell about yourself and others that now hold you back from the things you want and need.

In my work with couples the importance of building a healthy relationship with one’s self remains central. When we are unsure of how to fully care for ourselves we often recruit others to the task, putting the strain of need and expectation on our relationships. I can help you sort out the complex balance of caring for yourself and caring for others.

My Background

I earned a Master’s degree in marriage, couple, and family therapy from Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling. I have experience in individual, relationship, and family therapy. I also have specific experience working with domestic violence survivors, people going through gender/sexual transition, and “explosive” children and their families.

I offer poly, kink, and LGBTQIA affirming therapy and am knowledgeable about the unique challenges of members of these communities. I also offer non-judgmental and affirming counseling to adults engaging in sex-work and similar fields.
