My Background and Approach
The models of therapy that guide my work with clients include Internal Family Systems (IFS), solution-focused therapy, and family systems. Simply, what that means is I’m interested in a person’s relationship with themselves, their various parts, the family, social, and cultural systems they are a part of, believe you are the expert of your own life, and bring a unique set of strengths that often go untapped.
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) in both Oregon and Washington and am a certified Child Mental Health Specialist (CMHS), which requires 100 additional hours of training in child and adolescent development. I've completed the 100 hour level 1 IFS training and am actively pursuing IFS certification. I received my BA in English and creative writing from Walla Walla University, and I have a master’s degree in marriage, couples, and family therapy from Lewis & Clark College. I have 10 years of experience providing therapy in a variety of settings.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I honor the courage it takes to begin the therapy journey. It's a brave and scary endeavor, and I'm so glad you're here. I strive to create a warm, approachable, and safe environment in which clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore all parts of self. I work to build a caring, authentic, and collaborative client-therapist relationship, while fostering and nurturing the therapeutic alliance. I believe in the healing and change that therapy can bring people, and believe in the power of tapping into the creative and deeper part of self that allows an opportunity for individuals to develop a better sense of who they are and process inner conflicts they may be experiencing. I value each client and attempt to understand issues and problems through the lens of culture, socio-economic status, ethnicity, race, and religion. I am LGBTQ+ friendly, respect each individual's spiritual or religious path.
