My Approach

I believe strongly in the power of presence and bearing witness to life’s ups and downs. Therapy carves out a space to hold and examine life experiences in a new way. Some things we may do in our work together include: practice curiosity; explore and honor both past and present; gain awareness about your feelings, actions, motivations, and stories; and practice new (or forgotten) ways of being. This exploration can lead to insight, breaking of old patterns, self acceptance, and growth. Regardless of your unique process, I believe you have the inherent wisdom and resilience to be present, heal, find joy & ease, and love yourself more. My approach is collaborative, relational, direct, and peppered with humor. While I am influenced by a variety of orientations and techniques, ultimately, research shows that the single most effective ingredient in therapy is a strong and trusting relationship between therapist and client. Therefore, our work will be tailored to your unique needs.

My Background

I have 15 years experience working with individuals, children/teens, and families in a variety of health, mental health, and advocacy settings. I am experienced in supporting clients with a variety of challenges including depression, anxiety, challenges faced by folks who identify as LGBTQ, challenges faced by women, shame and negative self talk, and relationship difficulties. Prior to opening my private practice, I worked as a therapist and clinical social worker in acute medical trauma and integrative health settings. I am a certified yoga teacher with extensive training in mindfulness and mindful movement. My experiences in the healthcare field and as a yoga practitioner and teacher give me a unique understanding of the body-mind connection. I hold a Masters in Social Work with a focus in clinical practice from Portland State University, and I am licensed through the Oregon Board of Licensed Clinical Social Workers.
