My Ideal Client

Since 2011, I have been working with folks across the Portland-Metro area seeking growth and change amidst endings, beginnings, challenges and transitions. I work with adults experiencing changes in their lives that can often be challenging including anxiety, depression, stress, becoming parents, relationship difficulties and grief and loss. I also have extensive experience working with folks experiencing mood and anxiety issues during and after pregnancies.

My Approach to Helping

Folks would describe my therapy style as active, experiential, infused with humor and compassion, and deeply collaborative. I employ an eclectic and trauma-informed approach to suit the needs and strengths of the individual in front of me. Using the safety of the therapeutic relationship, together we can support you in better understanding yourself. I value the use of education and mind/body interventions as well as the cultivation of practical strategies and solutions to experiment with in between appointments. I have specialized training in Interpersonal Psychotherapy. I have also taken training in a variety of other modalities, though have most closely studied and draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. Brief and long-term therapy can be equally effective and useful depending on needs, resources and availability. I am equipped with training and skills to support you in either direction.

My Values as a Therapist

I believe that healthy individuals create healthy communities. I strive to use my education, experience, training and resources to support the healing and growth of healthy individuals to, in turn, re-invest in the community we share. My practice is informed by a strong set of social justice values; I believe access to quality mental health care is a foundational component of dismantling institutionalized systems of oppression. I strive to operate from an anti-oppressive, relational-cultural, sex positive, feminist lens.

  • Postpartum External link

Since 2015, I have been working with folks experiencing perinatal and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, people who have experienced pregnancy loss, birth trauma, and those considering options with a pregnancy, including termination and adoption. I hold a Perinatal Mental Health Certification, PMH-C, to recognize my specialized training and work experience.

  • Adjustment Disorder External link

I utilize Interpersonal Psychotherapy, a modality uniquely suited for folks experiencing stress related to changes in their life including changes in employment/careers, relationships, physical health, change in living environment, and new roles (e.g. becoming a caregiver or parent). Since 2011, I have been working with folks encountering transitions in their lives - including pregnancy and postpartum, re-entry following incarceration, and early recovery.

  • Women's Issues External link

I worked as an integrated mental health therapist for an OB/GYN company from 2015-2021. This allowed me the opportunity to work with folks across the lifespan, often addressing the confluence of physical and mental health; including reproductive health (i.e managing medical issues during a pregnancy, pregnancy loss), PMS/PMDD, pregnancy and adjustments following the birth of a child, sexual health, healthy weight management and lifestyle choices.
