Katie Morris Henson

Licensed Professional Counselor

I am a loud laugher; compassionate and straight-forward in equal measure; slightly awkward; prone to drinking too much coffee; and honored that folks tend to feel safe to be themselves with me.

My Approach

While I predominantly rely on an integrated strengths-based, cognitive behavioral approach, I also utilize tenets of existential theory and various other methods in partnering with clients to better understand how they determine their personal values and responsibilities; how that impacts making meaning of events and challenges in their lives; and ultimately, how this contributes to their own level of self-determination. I believe that it is possible to change the narrative of one's backstory and craft a more peaceful, intentional way of being in this world, to wholly engage in life with a sense of genuine connection. I love collaborating with clients and their unique perspectives to help create a consistent foundation they can return to as they move through the therapeutic process towards the goals they have chosen. Anyone who has experienced significant adversity and/or who is striving to live with a sense of wholeness and personal agency will find success in working with me.

My Background

If you are avoiding your life, exhausted from worry and over-thinking, or just flat-out numb inside, I get it. And 60-hour work weeks, chronic Netflix binges, and 'just one more glass' may provide a temporary escape. But those emotions are often self-protective reactions to hard things and the stories we carry and create to endure them -- I'm really good at helping folks transform all that into something so much more empowering and productive than superficial politeness while quietly screaming inside. I promise.
