My Ideal Client

I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families I specialize in treating anxiety, depression & pain management. I have experience working with LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities. I also enjoy working with teenage and younger clients. When one is going through grief and loss, education challenges, relationship difficulties, a new family member, pain or illness, it can be particularly difficult to cope and particularly beneficial to be in therapy to work through these issues with an unbiased ear.

My Approach to Helping

I graduated from Simmons Graduate School of Social Work in Boston in 2003. Whether using CBT, DBT, mindfulness, narrative, or IFS therapy, I've found that each person responds to something different. I utilize a mindfulness, strengths based approach and incorporate different theories. I believe that each client is unique and requires an individual approach. Rather than offering a specific therapy modality, I try to think specifically about what might benefit the individual.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Anxiety External link

Everyone experiences anxiety to some degree but for some it can be debilitating. I utilize CBT and mindfulness to work with individuals to find ways to remain calm even when stress is high.

  • Depression External link

In the beginning of my career, I worked in Inpatient Psychiatry. This experience allowed me to experience the treatment of depression being done from talk therapy only, to incorporating medications and ECT. I am very comfortable talking with individuals who are depressed and can sit with the difficult thoughts that often accompany the low mood.

  • ADHD External link

There was never a plan to specialize in ADHD but it turned out that so many of my clients who were coming to me regarding another issue also had ADHD. It impacts many aspects of everyday life and relationships. I utilize a combination of talk therapy and implementing strategies to assist clients in lowering the impact it has on their daily lives.
