My Ideal Client

Are racing thoughts, anxiety, or a sense of being stuck making daily life harder to manage? Have you experienced a recent loss or life transition that feels overwhelming or hard to make sense of? I work with people who are navigating tough transitions, dealing with mood challenges, or just trying to make sense of things when life feels a bit too heavy. I offer a compassionate space to explore your experiences. My approach blends empathy with evidence-based tools to help you process emotions.

How I Can Help You

People seek therapy for different reasons but most often because they have been unable to 'fix' something that feels off in their life. I believe every individual and family operates within its own unique culture and system. My goal in working with clients is to maximize existing strengths, facilitate insight into patterns of behavior and foster the development of new skills, while honoring the uniqueness of each individual or system.

My Approach to Helping

Many years of working with people has taught me that there is no one way to 'do therapy'. Individuals interact with their world in very unique ways based on how they have experienced life. I feel it is my job to understand how individuals perceive themselves and their worlds before I can offer to help them through a difficult situation. Together, we identify and clarify strengths and skills that exist in each individual to be used as building blocks. Through a process of looking at how thoughts, emotions and behaviors interact and influence each other, we can challenge and adapt those thoughts or behaviors that are damaging and replace them with more effective ones. These tools can then be used on a daily basis to help maneuver through the everyday situations that can sometimes be so overwhelming and often destructive.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) External link

Cognitive Behavioral therapy is one of the best ways to address depression and anxiety symptoms. It helps look at and shift some of the thoughts that can negatively impact how you feel and act. Sometimes our perceptions and thoughts about events or people or even life become so automatic that we aren't even sure what we are responding to anymore.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Child or Adolescent Issues External link

I've been working with kids and teens for over 10 years in schools, treatment centers and in private practice. When family dynamics change or a kiddo starts to struggle with anxiety or depression an objective listener can often be the catalyst to change and encourage the communication and life skills that every parent wants their kids to learn.

  • Anxiety External link

Anxiety can be a feeling we experience a little here and there or something that is paralyzing to day to day life. I help people manage those feelings by learning to stop fighting themselves and accept their fears in an empowered way.

  • Divorce External link

Deciding to end a relationship can be a confusing and fearful process. People often feel stuck and unsure of their future. Confronting those what ifs through a therapeutic relationship can help individuals clarify emotional wants and needs as well as learn to communicate those needs in the now and for future relationships.
