My Ideal Client

Get to Know Me Welcome. I am Laura May Watts, a Marriage and Family Therapy Associate based in Portland, Oregon. I graduated with a M.A. from Lewis and Clark in 2011. I am married and have a large blended family. I am here to support shifts in the ways families, couples, parents, and individuals relate to the world, each other, and to their selves.

My Approach to Helping

Welcome to therapy! Thank you for reaching out and wanting to grow, learn, and heal. I feel honored to meet you and hear about your life. I respect the bravery and vulnerability it takes to share your personal story and open up about struggles, worries, grief, and complex family triggers. I approach this role with care and see you with positive regard. I can help you sympathize with yourself and release guilt or self blame. I want you to believe in yourself and your amazing strengths and gifts. This foundation of self care will strengthen you for all the difficult tasks that life requires. This path is gentle and soft. It's vital to me that you feel heard, safe, and respected. I look forward to connecting with you and helping you find more alignment in your life.

My Approach to Helping

I like to meet you where you are at, listen to your story, and help create tools to soothe your struggles. This may look like practicing mindfulness, increasing self love, or investigating relational and societal dynamics and impacts. We will use the therapeutic relationship to model healthier play and responses in parenting and partnerships. Progress is the growth that you decide works in your life.
