My Approach

I'm focused on delivering individualized and empirically-validated psychotherapy designed to help clients understand and improve their mental health, intimacy and relationships. I work with individuals and couples in creating tailored formulations that capture current issues and maintenance cycles. I see well-delivered sex therapy as aiding in the navigation of concerns, shifting focus onto pleasure and away from performance and helping individuals and couples increase their emotion regulation. Depending on your treatment goals, we can learn to care for shame, fear and anxiety, and loosen up around inhibition and maladaptive thinking patterns. Common treatment goals often have to do with fostering more satisfying desire, arousal and orgasm (both within ourselves and in relationships); reducing pain and discomfort during sex; and increasing sexual satisfaction, communication and empowerment. Increasing our attentional and embodied awareness allows people to live fuller lives.

My Background

With my training from around the world, my diverse clinical experience drives my theoretical and research-oriented perspective. I’m an AASECT-certified clinical psychologist practicing in downtown Portland. Previously licensed in NY, registered with the UK Health Professions Council for licensure in London and chartered member of the British Psychological Society. I strive to foster therapy goals that increase self-appreciation, compassion and emotion regulation, and deepen our connection to full experiences that enrich our identities. Specializing in sex therapy has led me to be even more motivated to help more people feel less alone with all of the beautiful complexity of living rich and embodied human lives.
