My Ideal Client

Are your thoughts spinning, imagining worst case scenarios, or analyzing your social interactions wondering if you've made a terrible faux pas? Do you have fears or negative beliefs about yourself that keep you stuck? Maybe there are some unhealthy patterns that dominate your time and mental space keeping you from doing more important things. If this sounds like you, the good news is therapy can help. Even lifelong patterns can be shifted with intentional work and an experienced guide.

My Approach to Helping

I have a passion for helping those who struggle with anxiety and problems with self-worth and shame. My training and experience helps me help you break down negative thought loops by promoting awareness and strategies that work, in a context of compassionate understanding. I also work with those who'd like to moderate or stop drinking but don't identify with the 12-step model. I have specialized training in a number of modalities - My goal will be to introduce strategies that work and are a good fit for you. Past work settings include corrections, college mental health and community mental health affording me the opportunity to work with many different clients and issues. But what's most important is finding a therapist who really gets you. I want to connect with you, to see the world through your eyes, so I can be a helpful partner on your journey. Which is how I see it - you and I tackling problems together.

My Values as a Therapist

All people have the capacity to create a life filled with meaning and purpose. Because you are here, you've shown your resilience and willingness to ask for help. While entrenched beliefs & behaviors can be hard to change, it's very possible because our brains are "plastic". Research has shown that brain structure and neural pathways are flexible and change with experience. That's great news because therapy can help folks create these new experiences and change the brain. Mindfulness has much to offer toward this goal -the more we can observe the workings of our mind in a calm compassionate way, the more we can defuse the processes that hijack our minds and nervous systems. In therapy, I work to create a safe, compassionate environment through empathetic listening and interaction while also being straightforward and transparent.
