Licensed Professional Counselor

You know how sometimes you get so overwhelmed, and so stuck—and then you feel ashamed and alone? But you’re not sure what to do, so you keep trying the same thing over and over? I help people rediscover feelings that allow them to feel like themselves again and to move towards meaning again.

My Approach

I specialize in working with people in transitions around life, livelihood and loss, and the complex emotions that arise in those moments. I have a deep interest in women’s life transitions including fertility and pregnancy, postpartum, leaving or re-entering the workforce, and the empty nest. And I have expertise in meeting people wherever they are on the path of parenting. My role as a therapist is to offer support, insight and gentle challenge during your search for healing and growth. I work with my clients to develop compassion and curiosity about themselves and their suffering. With greater awareness and acceptance of your experience, a greater range of choices become available, and life begins to feel richer.

My Background

I hold a master’s degree in counseling from Portland State University, where addition to my core courses, I took classes in interpersonal neurobiology, in storytelling and ritual, and in existential psychology. Major coursework included: counseling relationships, ethics, human growth and development, theories of counseling, and advanced clinical skills. I have also completed the Two Year Comprehensive training offered through M.E.T.A, which deepened my understanding of mindfulness, trauma recovery, and experiential work. Continuing education is an essential and enriching part of my work as a therapist. In post-graduate training, I have focused on people's experiences of pregnancy and parenting, on the ways in which attachment issues emerge in our lives, and on ways of helping people deepen into their own experience.
