My Ideal Client

Feeling stuck and uncertain of next steps in life? I work with clients struggling with anxiety and decision-making who are ready for a change. You might be a highly sensitive person, people-pleaser, or simply struggle to know what you want out of life. That's ok, I've been there too. Together we can tune into your intuition through the messages of your mind, body and soul and build momentum towards hope and healing in your life.

How I Can Help You

In our work together, we will identify roadblocks to your life desires, such as shame, negative self-talk and outgrown belief systems. Our sessions will focus on increasing insight, developing new skills and setting intentions to keep you moving forward. We will explore the importance of the mind-body connection in support of greater emotional awareness and trust in your intuition. I will guide you in recognizing your emotional needs in order to more effectively meet those needs and communicate them to others. I'm happy to offer suggestions for exploration outside of session including personal growth assignments, podcasts (which I love!) and recommended readings.

My Values as a Therapist

I've spent the last few years living and working from a tiny house out in the woods in an attempt to simplify my life and live in closer connection with nature. I value the collective and making life choices from a lens of justice and equality for all individuals, communities, nature and animals. I lead with empathy and a nonjudgmental position in my work with clients. I don't assume to know who you are or what you believe and am here to hold space and support you in identifying your own values, preferences, dreams and goals. I am LGBTQ affirming, a supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement, and welcome clients of all ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Mindfulness-based External link

I've undergone training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and have personal experience with mindfulness practices in my own life. On a basic level, mindfulness involves conscious awareness of our present moment experience to empower us to make choices from a place of greater intentionality. I find that connecting with nature is a wonderful way to practice mindfulness and I offer various practices in session that can be continued outside of our work together.

  • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) External link

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy involves making connections between your thoughts, feelings and behaviors to help you feel more empowered in your life. Together we will examine how the stories you tell about yourself and your life may be negatively impacting your emotional self and the choices you make. Bringing awareness to thoughts, feelings and behaviors and understanding how these are separate, yet connected parts of our experience can bring insight to unconscious patterns in our lives.

  • Coaching External link

I offer a coaching series that is six sessions over three months with an emphasis on action towards your unique goals. This is a more structured approach to personal growth whereas therapy is an open-ended process of exploration that may cover a wide range of topics and goals. While the structure to therapy is different, we can always incorporate solution-focused work into our time together. I love supporting motivated clients who are ready for change and looking for a growth oriented approach.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Anxiety External link

Anxiety, stress and worry are dynamics we all deal with in our lives. It could be a lifelong relationship with anxiety or present as a situational reaction to stressful life events and triggers. I've worked extensively with clients on anxiety related concerns and can support you in developing a more peaceful relationship with anxiety. I draw from skills in CBT, mindfulness and somatic awareness.

  • Relationship / Marriage Issues External link

My practice is currently focused on individuals but I have many years of experience working with relationship issues as they present in therapy. I can support you in understanding the relationship template you were given from birth and how to navigate current relationships through greater emotional awareness and communication of your needs.

  • Compassion Fatigue External link

As a helper and healer, I've experienced compassion fatigue myself and it's a very real and overwhelming experience. My therapy and coaching services can support you in creating self-care routines and developing mindfulness skills to stay present with yourself and your emotional needs. This typically leads to boundary work as healthy boundaries are necessary to make space for your own wellbeing.

  • Codependency External link

I'm finding this theme is showing up a lot in my practice these days! Codependency can mean a lot of different things- it could look like people-pleasing or perfectionistic behaviors, putting the needs of others before your own, having trouble separating your emotions from those of others, or constantly questioning yourself in your relationships. This also applies to individuals who have struggled in relationships that involved frequent manipulation and gaslighting.

  • Personal Growth External link

"Personal growth" is inevitably part of the therapy and coaching process but it can also be the center of the work if that's important to you! I will support you in identifying specific changes you would like to make and developing strategies to work towards goals. Together, we can explore your core values and design a life consistent with those values. My coaching series is a proactive approach to personal growth with emphasis on learning and action.
