Michelle Montgomery

Clinical Social Work Associate

My goal is to assist clients as they navigate and create their own path towards growth and fulfillment. I focus on assisting individuals with constructing their own path and viewing roadblocks as an opportunity to expand and re-evaluate their life, behaviors and thought process.

My Approach

My specialties range from relational therapy (how past and current relationships effect us) to working with first responders. As a clinician who has worked in the emergency department and in corrections as a clinician (and as custody staff) I understand first hand the complexities of working in a trauma based environment. My passion for working with first responders (police officers, firefighters, corrections officers, veterans, medical staff, clinicians) began when I started working in community mental health. It is my belief that it takes a village to combat mental health and I take pride in the opportunity to build and strengthen individuals who do so much for our community!

My Background

I currently provide clinical and forensic services to clients who are incarcerated where I work as the Lead Mental Health Consultant and have over 10 years of experience in the mental health field. I have worked with clients in a variety of settings which include Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare/ PSRB, the Department of Youth Services, New York City Criminal Court, Peace Health Emergency Department, MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility and at the Federal Defenders of New York where I also provided mitigation and re-entry services on behalf of my clients. I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and currently hold my Clinical Social Work Associate (CSWA) certificate in the State of Oregon. I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Columbia University with a minor in Law and my Bachelor’s Degree in Literature from Chapman University. As a result of my diverse background in film and literature studies I value diversity and creativity with my therapeutic process.
