My Ideal Client

You being here means you are open to working on a different path. I value collaborating to create a therapeutic alliance in which clients feel safe and honored exploring all dimensions of their identities and experiences. I enjoy working with adults facing but not limited to: infertility, grief/loss, life transitions, medical trauma, self-esteem, interpersonal issues and personal growth. I am currently on the way to specializing more in Maternal Mental Health & areas of Assisted Reproduction.

My Approach to Helping

I am a psychotherapist specializing in art therapy. My style is warm, direct and collaborative. My approach is integrative; drawing from strengths based, trauma-informed, relational & social justice perspectives. I work to hold space for you in your moments of pain, and guide you towards developing insight & self-compassion in order to address and resolve problems, change patterns, improve relationships, heal trauma & navigate hardships. Together we will cultivate the insight, skills and utilize your inner strength to benefit you for years to come. I am also a bilingual/bicultural therapist and seek to support culturally competent counseling options to the BIPOC community. Feel free to reach out with any questions!

Why I Became a Therapist

As a child, I was introduced to art therapy during a difficult long-term hospitalization which left me hard-of-hearing. With the guidance of an art therapist and through the healing power of art-making, I was able to transform my feelings of anger, inadequacy, fear and sorrow into feelings of accomplishment, understanding and ultimately bring meaning to my life. After that experience, I continued pursuing an education in art therapy, with the intent of helping others just as I was. I attained a Master’s degree in Art Therapy/Transpersonal Counseling Psychology at a world-renowned school for Eastern mindfulness and Western psychology, Naropa University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Nationally Registered Art Therapist (ATR) and Licensed Art Therapist in Oregon (LAT). I am currently working on an EMDR certification with a speciality in Maternal/Perinatal Mental Health.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Attachment Theory External link

Attachment theory is all about love and safety. How we experience that from an early age influences the coping skills we develop for all of our relationships, especially during times of conflict and struggle. I love that we can change how we feel about ourselves, our relationships and the world at large through the context of new, safe, reparative experiences.

  • Art Therapy External link

Art therapy is a modality that can help access feelings and thoughts that may become blocked through our ability to censor, filter, intellectualize or suppress. Together we can make visible and tangible new insights about our experiences that inform deeper parts of the self through the creative process. No art experience/skill level necessary!

  • Emotionally Focused External link

Emotionally Focused Therapy is rooted in the theory that as humans, we all need secure attachment and healthy relationship. We work to rebuild those secure bonds by helping clients learn to recognize their emotions and feel them in a safe and validating way. I will support your work to recognize the emotional patterns we get into when our relational needs aren't met and grow healthy tools to break the pattern.
