My Ideal Client

I work particularly well with clients with non-traditional paths/orientations: creatives, entrepreneurs, artists, LGBTQ folx, people navigating poly relationships, and anyone who feels like they don’t (or choose not to) fit cultural expectations. I enjoy helping people connect to their authentic selves and to foster agency, growth, integrity, connection, and transformation.

My Approach to Helping

I believe it is our relationships that give us the greatest opportunity for connection and meaning in our lives. I work with people to help them better understand themselves both as individuals and in relationship so that they can clarify what gets in the way of feeling more connected to self, other, and the world. I strive to help clients facilitate growth and change, develop helpful coping and communication skills, strengthen inner resource individually and in relationship, deepen self-compassion and compassion for your partner(s), and create relationships that feel authentic, meaningful, and connected. I believe it is also important to address the impact of relational stress on the body, working with the nervous system and neurophysiology as a way to increase wellness and balance. I use a variety of modalities including mindfulness practice, attachment theory, differentiation, trauma-sensitive yoga, and DBT to give you practical tools towards healing.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have a BS from UC Berkeley and a Masters from Lewis and Clark College and am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. My work is informed by my education and training in somatic therapy, mindfulness, attachment theory, Polyvagal theory, AEDP, Integration therapy, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, feminist theory, and the couples work of Esther Perel and Terry Real. I work with trauma and the ways people respond to and cope with its effects (anxiety, depression, relational challenges, difficulty trusting/connecting, substance use). I affirm all gender identities and sexual orientations and support non-traditional relationship configurations. My work is informed by a long-standing meditation and yoga practice and a belief that we all have an organic wisdom and an intrinsic capacity to move towards wholeness.

Issues I Treat

  • Relationship / Marriage Issues External link

Clarifying wants and needs, being differentiated from your partner, and exploring meaning in relationships are vital to understanding the interpersonal dynamic unique to each relationship.

  • PTSD External link

Traumatic experience impacts our brains, our ability to regulate our nervous systems, and our feeling of connectedness. I help clients develop tools to work with their neurophysiology, sympathetic/parasympathetic arousal, and attachment issues to increase balance and well-being.
